Here are some examples of the tables and chairs I have made over the years:
The chairs are high back (about 42") and a very comfortable.
Note the 5" square legs
This draw-leaf table is of the same design, but smaller and made in ash. The chairs are the same style as those on the right, only in ash.
Pedestal Tables Most of the pedestal tables that I have seen have a hollow column with the feet held on with lag bolts. This results in a top heavy table that needs the hardware tightened on occasion. My pedestal tables, whether large or small, have a solid wood column (about 7" to 8" diameter on the large tables), with the feet dovetailed in the column, using a sliding dovetail. This not only makes the table solid in construction, but gives it a lower center of gravity for greater stability.
42" round extension pedestal table in red oak. Opens to 64" with two leaves.
Small occasional round table in ash, probably 24" round
Similar 42" round table with only one leaf
42" round table in ash (goes with the breakfast nook set shown below)
Shaker splay-legged drop leaf table This table, made in cherry is 36" long and about 28" wide when fully opened. The legs are splayed (on an angle). Note also the rule-joint detail for the drop leafs. This by far, is my favorite table design. Probably because of it's simplicity of design, yet more complex then a regular table because of all the angled joints.
Similar tables made in cherry, both 36" wide and 60" long. Only difference is in style of legs.
table with 4 1/2 square legs
Shaker style table, with 2" square leg
Here is a similar table, though it is 48 inches in diameter, with two leaves and made of solid cherry.
